Alex Fetterly enters his second year as an assistant coach after joining the program in August of 2023.
Fetterly serves with a primary focus on goalkeepers, helping the Cougars to three shutouts in the 2023 season.
In 2023, Charleston finished the season with a 6-6-5 record including five home wins. Starting the season with seven-straight undefeated games, Charleston picked up wins over Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern. The Cougars went on to defeat William & Mary and Drexel in the regular season, finishing the season with a victory versus Winthrop at home.
"I am very happy to have Alex joining our staff. He has great energy and is very detail orientated when training the goalkeepers," Wiggans stated. "He is a young coach and hungry to gain knowledge and experience in the college game. He is also a great person who will fit in with our culture well."
Prior to Charleston, Fetterly served as an assistant coach with a primary focus on goalkeepers at Houston Christian University. Along with coaching at HCU, he worked as an assistant coach for Houston Dynamo Youth Academy.
Before his time in Houston, he assisted his alma mater, Virginia Commonwealth University, as a student coach. He also was a coach with the Richmond Kickers, the longest-running soccer club in the country.
Fetterly earned his bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising from Virginia Commonwealth University in December 2022.
